A move to France, written down in the order it happens

Relo2France is for Americans moving to France. It holds the requirements of the move in one place, in the order you will meet it, from choosing a visa route to validating your visa and settling in during your first months in France.

Where the information comes from

The knowledge base behind the guides and the portal holds 50 topics. Each one states only what an official French or US government source states, names that source, and carries the month it was last checked. Every week the topics are re-checked against those sources, and anything that has changed is flagged for review before it is published.

Where people report what actually happens at a consulate or a prefecture, that is kept separate and labeled as lived experience. It is useful, and it is not the rule.

Who writes the guides

The guides are written by the Relo2France research team, part of The Burrowbridge Group, LLC, from the knowledge base above. Guides on visas and tax are also reviewed before they change, because those are the decisions that are hardest to undo. Each guide carries its byline, its reviewer and the day it last changed.

How we verify

  • A guide states only what an official French or US government page states, and names that page.
  • The knowledge base is re-checked against those pages every week; a change is reviewed before it is published.
  • Guides are written from the knowledge base and dated: each shows the month its facts were verified and the day its text last changed.
  • What people report from consulates and prefectures is labeled as lived experience and kept apart from the rule.

What membership is

The guides are free to read and always will be. Membership is $99, once, with no subscription or renewal. It turns the same information into your own file: a dated plan counted back from your move, your own dossier (and one per family member with the Family add-on), documents drafted with your details, and an assistant that answers about your situation rather than about visas in general.

What it is not

Relo2France is not affiliated with the French government and is not legal or tax advice. Requirements change and vary by consulate. For advice on your specific circumstances, you want an immigration lawyer or a French accountant, and the guides say so wherever that line is reached.
